ExOne produces an array of materialization systems to support a wide range of customer needs and facility requirements.

ExOne currently offers two of the largest printers on the world market for 3D printing of sand and metal materials, offering build sizes as large as 1800 x 1000 x 700 mm (70 x 39 x 27 in.) for sand and 780 x 400 x 400 mm (30.7 x 15.75 x 15.75 in.) for metal. Smaller scale metal/glass printers are also available for university/research lab applications or small-scale product manufacturers, with a build size of 40 x 60 x 35 mm (1.5 x 2.3 x 1.3 in.).

At IMTS 2012, ExOne unveiled the latest in the digital part materialization line-up: the M-Flex. Offered as a mid-size, flexible solution which is capable of printing in a range of materials, this machine features a build size of 400 x 250 x 250 mm (15.7 x 9.8 x 9.8 in.).

ExMicro also offers Orion™ short pulse laser systems, utilizing a five-axis machine tool with four additional axes available on the trepanning head. The state-of-the-art beam manipulation permits the fabrication of complex shapes, including direct and inverse taper.

ExOne Materialization Systems are sold as complete systems packages and customized for specific customer requirements and applications. Please contact one of our global facilities for an equipment quote

S-Max Furan

The Ultimate in Production Flexibility & Efficiency

Sand Casting Molds & Cores Printed Directly from CAD The ExOne S-Max system selectively dispenses foundry-grade resin into thin layers of specially engineered sand. This additive process creates complex sand casting cores and molds directly from CAD data, eliminating the need for a physical pattern to create a core or mold. The process produces accurate, uniform cores and molds rapidly, significantly reducing lead time. The flexibility to modify and customize mold designs can improve casting performance, reduce weight, and add complexity to cast components.

The S-Max is suited for foundries and design facilities. The ability to cast in hours without hard tooling improves the entire casting process chain.

Features
  • Industry-proven casting materials
  • On-demand sand supply management system
  • Proven printhead technology for precise dosing of binding agent
  • No support structures
  • No post processing required
  • Molds and cores immediately available for casting
  • Complex internal details and structures capability, otherwise unattainable using traditional methods

At-a-Glance Machine Specification
  • Patternless
  • Low binder content (< 2%)
  • Quartz and specialty sands
  • Data Interface: STL
  • Build Volume (WxDxH): 1800 x 1000 x 700 mm (70 x 39 x 27 in.)
  • Industrial grade machine tool
  • External Dimensions (WxDxH): 6900 x 3520 x 2860 mm (271.7 x 138.6 x 112.6 in.)

Production cell

The machine is a single, compact unit delivered with a single job box. A second job box can be ordered as an option to increase the productivity of the printer. The batch mixer is fully integrated into the main system, eliminating the need for any further equipment such as roller conveyors or an unloading station.

S-Print

Improved Productivity in a Compact Design

The ExOne S-Print system selectively dispenses foundry-grade resin into thin layers of specially engineered sand. The S-Print is ideally suited for facilities already equipped with a pattern making shop. The system manufactures even the most complex cores effortlessly while work is carried out in parallel on conventional components, resulting in improved reaction time and productivity throughout the entire casting process chain.

The S-Max is suited for foundries and design facilities. The ability to cast in hours without hard tooling improves the entire casting process chain.

M-Print

Industrial-Grade Scale & Flexibility in Metal

The ExOne M-Print system selectively dispenses chemical binder into thin layers of powdered metal. This additive process creates complex and intricately-designed parts directly from CAD data. The process produces near-net prototypes and short-run production parts rapidly, reducing the typical lead time and eliminating tooling. The flexibility to modify and customize product designs with a couple of clicks is an added benefit. The M-Print is ideally suited for large parts and for large volumes of parts, resulting in improved reaction time and productivity throughout the entire manufacturing process chain.

ExMicro Orion Laser

Precision Micro Holes & Features

ExMicro's Orion™ advanced short-pulse laser machining systems are able to machine high precision cylindrical or shaped holes with little or no thermal recast. Hole sizes less than 100 µm diameter through 1 mm of material can be produced in less than 8 seconds. For applications such as diesel injector nozzles or turbine engine blades that have backwalls in the path of the machining, ExMicro has developed a proprietary technique to effectively protect those critical surfaces from any damaging backwall strikes. Additionally, Orion’s sophisticated beam manipulation devices allow the fabrication of complex shapes and variable taper control.

Features
  • Minimal thermal influence (1 to 2 µm) due to short pulse duration
  • Can machine both traditional and exotic (even brittle) materials
  • Complex shapes can be machined with speed and precision

At-a-Glance Machine Specification
  • Five-axis (X,Y,Z,B,C) machine tool
  • Average laser power output (actual varies based on laser source options): 25 watt
  • Options ranging from 515-1064nm wavelength laser (green)
  • Typical pulse duration: 15 picoseconds nominal
  • Additional axes on trepanning head for full control of machining routines
  • X-Y-Z Maximum Travel Speed: 100 mm/sec
  • B-Axis Maximum Travel Speed: 10 rpm
  • C-Axis Maximum Travel Speed: 100 rpm
